15. Where can I get more information about PMC and its services?
1. Why are you moving?
Our first reason is to improve patient care
by integrating all our services offered at our two clinics into one location. For example,
our Pediatrics and Ob/Gyn staff will now be working together more closely. Patients will
also get more convenient access to services such as ultrasound, treadmill, x-ray and
Mammography, which in the past were separated. The second reason is a need for improved
operational efficiency, which should translate into better service for you.
2. When will you move?
We will move from July 9th to July 11th.
3. Will the clinic close while you move?
We anticipate closing for three days (July
9th to July 11th) to allow for the packing of all equipments, furniture and supplies from
PMC I and PMC II, and setting these up in our new offices. Since we plan our move on a
weekend, our clinic services should be interrupted for only one weekday. We apologize in
advance for the inconvenience this may cause you. We hope that you will be pleasantly
surprised by the changes.
4. What will be the new clinic hours? What about the clinic hours of the
Women's Clinic? Will there be Urgent Care hours?
Regular hours for all Clinics are from 8:00
a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
5. Will you have the same doctors? Will you be adding more doctors?
Our staff will essentially remain the same .
We will attempt to maintain a certain balance of providers in various specialties to best
serve our patient population. We will add providers as deemed necessary to ensure quality
patient care. For the most up-to-date list, please go to our website at
http://www.pmcguam.com, and select "Meet Our Staff".Once we are settled into the
new clinic, we will monitor any change in patient needs and preferences, and make
adjustments to improve your accessibility to our services. Please give us your comments
and suggestions by e-mail to info@pmcguam.com.
6. Where will patients fill their prescriptions and get their lab tests done?
The new PMC clinic will have a lab draw
station and a pharmacy. The lab draw station will offer similar services to those that
were provided in our Dededo clinic and will be operated by the same fine lab technicians
from DLS Biopath. The pharmacy will also be operated by the same qualified pharmacist that
ran the one next to PMC I in Dededo. Hours for both the lab and pharmacy will mirror the
clinics hours of operation.
7. Will you offer mammography services?
We are currently recruiting for a certified
Mammography Tech position. It is our intention to have a fully operational FDA certified
mammography facility in the new clinic.

8. What will happen to the Rotating Specialists Program?
We will continue to host the familiar
LA-based cardiologists, as well as Dr. Rubio, an endocrinologist from Manila. These
physicians have shown a continuous dedication to our Guam community since 1995, and will
continue to offer consultations and regular follow-ups for your convenience. In addition to
this, we are also negotiating with some off-island specialists in dermatology, neurology
and urology to come to our clinic on a regular basis. Check our website section on "
Rotating Specialists" regularly to find out about any upcoming specialty clinics by
our visiting physicians.
9. How will the waiting areas be organized?
Unlike PMC I in Dededo that had two separate
waiting areas, there will be only one large waiting area in the new clinic, with enough
seats to accommodate about 60 patients and guests. A few seats near the front desk will be
equipped with classroom-like tilt-up desktops to make it easier for you to complete forms
and other paperwork.Magazines along with healthcare educational materials will also be
available for your benefit. Note that our clinic will be a smoke-free environment. If you
absolutely need to smoke, please leave the waiting area and do so outside of the clinic
and of its immediate surroundings, in order to avoid inconveniencing other patients.
10. How will children keep themselves busy while waiting for their
appointment?
Toys and other "busy-body" gadgets
will be available in the childrens waiting area for their amusement and distraction.
A VCR-television will also be installed in the childrens play area to keep them
occupied during your visit.
11. How many parking stalls will be available for patients?
There will be 67 parking slots for patients
and guests, 4 of which will be for the handicapped. Additional parking slots have been set
aside for physicians and staff use.
12. How many restrooms will you have on-site? What if I need to change my
baby?
There will be five (5) public restrooms
located throughout the clinic. There will also be two (2) baby changing tables, one at
each side of the clinic. These will be located in the women's restroom across the
Pediatric and Family Practice Clinic, and in the men's restroom across the Ob/Gyn Clinic.
13. How long will I have to wait to see a doctor?
Waiting times vary between patients with
appointments and walk-ins. For patients with appointments, whether these were set the same
day or in advance, you will often be seen at or shortly after your appointment time. Your
waiting time should not exceed 15 to 30 minutes. Patient wait time for our off-island
visiting specialists sometimes run longer due to extended diagnoses and assessments. In
such cases, we apologize in advance for any delays and ask for your patience, as our
specialists are merely trying to be as thorough as possible. In any case, please remember
to come in at least 15 minutes before your scheduled visit to allow time to fill-in
necessary forms.
For walk-in patients, the wait can be longer,
up to a few hours on particularly busy days. Walk-in patients are comprised of those truly
needing immediate attention based on an urgent care assessment, those who feel sick but
have had symptoms for days, as well as those followingup on test results or in need of a
prescription refill.
Our triage nurse will assess the urgency of
each individual case and decide on the order in which patients will be seen. Please
understand that those needing immediate care may be seen by a doctor before you, even
though you may havearrived before them. Between patients with comparable need for care,
the one who came in earlier will be seen first. We try to give patients an estimate of how
long your wait will be, and we can often arrange for a same day appointment if you call
early enough. For more information about our same day appointment, please check with our
front desk staff or consult our website.
14. What health insurance plans do you accept? What forms of payment do you
take?
Most of our patients are covered by a
healthcare plan of some sort. We accept GMHP, Guam Health Shield, SaveCare, Staywell,
Nanbo, Calvo's, Multicover, to name a few. We also accept some MIP and Medicaid patients
provided they are deemed eligible for services by the appropriate government entity.
Medicare patients are accepted if they have been established with us under an earlier
health plan coverage.
For Worker's Comp and motor vehicle accidents
(MVA), please consult your employer or car insurance carrier to find out if they will
accept charges from PMC. We also accept patients on a self-pay basis, using cash, checks
(verified by MCB), MasterCard or Visa credit cards. We also accept APAS (and soon Pacific
Express) debit card. Feel free to call our office at 649-4501 for more information about
your insurance plan or our payment options.
