Cancer prevention and early
detection can save your life.About 1.2
million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in 1998, and approximately half a million
people will lose their lives to cancer this year - more than 1,500 people a day.
Being diagnosed with cancer can be a scary experience, and an
emotional and physical challenge for the person being diagnosed, as well as for the family
and the close relatives.
In 1997, according to the National Cancer Institute, about
500,000 American died of cancer, and 600,000 women were newly diagnosed with cancer.
The good news is that you can reduce your risk of cancer, and
improve the chances of having cancer detected at an earlier stage. The earlier the
detection, the more chances you have of being successfully treated, and return to a
normal, happy life.
