Pap smears save lives
90% of women know they should have an annual Pap smear, yet 37% failed to
have one in the previous year. Pap smears detect cervical cancer. If cervical
abnormalities are detected early, they can be treated before they develop into cancer.



Women who have never smoked but are married to
smokers have about 20% higher lung cancer death rates than women married to men who have

Dramatic increase in drinking among pregnant women
A study from the CDC in Atlanta, published in the August 1998 issue of the
Journal Obstetrics and Gynecology reports that frequent drinking, defined as having at
least seven drinks a week or five drinks at one time, increased more than 60 % between
mid-1992 and 1995. |
