SpineDon't Break Your Back
Think Before You Lift

* Check how heavy an object is before you lift it
Try to get help before lifting a heavy load, and don't try to lift something too heavy for you!

* Be sure you have a tight grip on the object before you lift it.
Check for handles or holes to carry it safely

* Use slow and smooth movements.
This prevents straining the muscles in your back.

* Keep your body facing the object while you lift it. Don't twist it.

* Keep the load as close as possible to your body.

* To lift with your legs, bend your knees to pick up the load, not your back. Do it only if you can straddle the load!

* Keep your back STRAIGHT !

* Try to carry the load in the space between your shoulder and your waist.
