Don't Break Your Back
Think Before You Lift
Check
how heavy an object is before you lift it
Try to get help before lifting a heavy load, and don't try to lift something too heavy for
you!
Be
sure you have a tight grip on the object before you lift it.
Check for handles or holes to carry it safely
Use
slow and smooth movements.
This prevents straining the muscles in your back.
Keep
your body facing the object while you lift it. Don't twist it.
Keep
the load as close as possible to your body.
To
lift with your legs, bend your knees to pick up the load, not your back. Do
it only if you can straddle the load!
Keep
your back STRAIGHT !
Try
to carry the load in the space between your shoulder and your waist.
